2015 Rugby World Cup - England

The 2015 Rugby World Cup will be the 8th incarnation of the competition and will be held in England from 4th September to 17th October 2015. England beat Japan, Italy and South Africa to secure hosting rights.

Twelve venues have been provisionally chosen to host matches, with 11 English stadia and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium put forward. A final decision on the 2015 World Cup venues will be made by the RFU at the beginning of 2012. So far the following English stadiums have been suggested:

Wembley, London.

Twickenham, London.

St James' Park, Newcastle.

Old Trafford, Manchester.

Emirates Stadium, London.

Elland Road, Leeds.

Anfield, Liverpool.

St Mary's Stadium, Southampton.

Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

Welford Road Stadium, Leicester.

Kingsholm Stadium, Gloucester.

Only three of the venues are dedicated rugby grounds with the rest being football/soccer grounds. Welford Road and Kingsholm Stadium will undergo expansions to increase spectator capacity in time for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

2015 Rugby World Cup qualification

England will qualify automatically for the tournament as the host nation. All nations finishing in third place or above in the pool stages of the 2011 Rugby World Cup will qualify for the 2015 competition.
